Rev up your engines and get ready for an exhilarating ride! Great British Motor Shows is back, bigger and better than ever before, with a new and expanding show season. But this year, there’s more to this automotive extravaganza than just sleek cars and roaring engines. Determined to make a lasting impact, Great British Motor Shows has chosen Race Against Dementia as its selected charity.
Race Against Dementia was founded by three-times F1 World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE, an iconic figure and an energetic advocate for dementia research.
By choosing Race Against Dementia as its selected charity, Great British Motor Shows will create opportunities for automotive enthusiasts to not only indulge their love for cars but also contribute towards finding solutions for dementia.
“I am so delighted that Race Against Dementia has been chosen by Great British Motor Shows as its selected charity – it means a great deal to me. Dementia is an enormous problem which affects millions of people across the globe. One in three people born today will die with dementia. We need to accelerate dementia research and bring about change. I want a cure to be found within my lifetime – this is the biggest challenge I have ever faced.
So many thanks indeed to Great British Motor Sports and everyone attending their shows for joining the race against dementia!”
Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE
Race Against Dementia is a charity that funds pioneering dementia research projects. Dementia currently affects over 55 million people around the world, causing memory loss, cognitive decline, and ultimately robbing individuals of their independence. Race Against Dementia’s goal is to accelerate preventative treatments and cures for all forms of dementia.
The work being done by Race Against Dementia aligns perfectly with Great British Motor Shows’ commitment to making a positive impact. By partnering with this important charity, Great British Motor Shows and you, the visitors and exhibitors, will not only raise awareness about dementia but also actively contribute towards vital dementia research.
Attendees can make a difference by simply purchasing tickets; Great British Motor Shows will make a donation to RAD for each ticket sold and this will directly support Race Against Dementia’s crucial research efforts.
Great British Motor Shows is committed to making a positive impact on society and the environment. In addition to supporting Race Against Dementia, Great British Motor Shows has also supports other charities and organisations that align with its values and goals. These include Ecologi and Sustainable International Travel where, from 2024, we will be carbon-offsetting all of our shows visits and exhibitors to help make us carbon neutral. Through this support, Great British Motor Shows aims to promote sustainability and social responsibility within the automotive industry.
Ways for attendees to get involved and support the cause:
1. Make a donation: One of the simplest ways to show your support is by making a donation directly to Race Against Dementia. Your contribution will go towards funding groundbreaking research projects that aim to find new treatments and ultimately, a cure for dementia. Simply text GBMS to 70085 to donate £5.
Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message, and you’ll be opting into hearing more from Race Against Dementia. If you would like to donate but don’t wish to hear more from Race Against Dementia, please text GBMSNOINFO instead.
2. Attend Great British Motor Shows events: By attending Great British Motor Shows events, you can enjoy all the excitement of the automotive industry while supporting a great cause. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales and exhibit entry will go towards Race Against Dementia.
